The managing partner of Iberian firm Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira’s Lisbon office has quit the firm to pursue personal projects.
In the wake of Manuel Castelo Branco’s departure the firm’s partners have unanimously appointed Maria João Ricou and Diogo Perestrelo to replace him, according to a statement from the firm.
Corporate and finance partner João Ricou and corporate and projects specialist Perestrelo will co-manage the Lisbon office and join the firm’s board of directors.
Castelo Branco was a founding partner of legacy firm Gonçalves Pereira Castelo Branco & Associados, which merged with Spanish firm Cuatrecasas in 2003.
A statement by the firm read: “All the partners, lawyers and support staff at Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira wish to express their sincere thanks to Manuel for his dedication over the years, and particularly for his commitment to building an Iberian law firm whose singularity has made it a unique, diverse and respected law firm in the European legal community.
“Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira will continue to work with the talented Manuel Castelo Branco in the future by collaborating in future projects.”
