Crowell hires 29-lawyer team for San Francisco launch

US firm Crowell & Moring is to launch an office in San Francisco after hiring a 29-lawyer team from US litigation firm Folger Levin & Kahn.
The team of nine partners, three senior counsel, one counsel and 16 associates includes Folger Levin & Kahm’s name partner Michael Kahn.
The remaining 15 lawyers at Folger Levin & Kahn have formed a new firm, Folger Levin.
The launch means Crowell will have three offices in California. Last year the firm launched in Los Angeles, having had a base in Orange County since 1991.
Crowell chairman Kent Gardiner said: “Many of our top clients are located in the Bay Area, and our new lawyers provide them an instant bench of leading litigators and trial lawyers who have proven themselves on the toughest cases involving a wide range of federal and state court matters.”
The news comes after the Washington DC-based firm hired corporate partner Joel Wheeler from Debevoise & Plimpton to bulk up its London M&A capabilities (5 October 2009).
