A cross-industry careers event aimed at disabled sixth formers is to be held in June 2013.
The event, at which Linklaters will attend from the legal industry, is designed to raise the careers aspirations of disabled school students whether that is through an apprenticeship or a graduate job.
Firms from other industry sectors participating in the event include Citibank, Ernst and Young, National Grid and EDF Energy.
The interactive event will follow the format of similar careers events aimed at first and second year university students, such as Getting In targeted at students interested in a career in investment banking and OPEN targeted at those interested in a career in commercial law.
The organiser of all three events Helen Cooke, director of My Plus Consulting, said: “These events not only provide a great insight into different industry sectors, in addition they show disabled students what is possible. Through the sessions that we run, particularly the panel session, it introduces them to others with disabilities who are enjoying successful careers in the large organisations.”
Cooke said the June event would be focused on “confidence and motivation raising … whether a student goes into an apprenticeship at 18 or goes on to university what we want to achieve is raising aspirations and the confidence to apply to these firms.”
