South East firm Cripps Harries Hall has become the latest to implement a four-day work week in a bid to stave off redundancies.
The Tunbridge Wells-headquartered firm has yet to make any staff cuts, but held discussions with four assistants in the corporate team about potential savings.
As a result, they agreed to cut hours to achieve a 25 per cent total cost saving.
Managing partner Jonathan Denny said: “We discussed what the options were and invited the four to suggest how they felt we should proceed.”
Cripps has seen small increases in both turnover and profit this year. Denny said its performance in average profit per equity partner, which rose from £200,000 to £205,000, was due to strict cost management.
The firm recently awarded bonuses to all staff after hitting this year’s targets.
