Crédit Lyonnais is to take on Jean-Baptiste de Cabanes as its new head of legal affairs
De Cabanes is a corporate lawyer at Barbé Carpentier Thibault Groener where he focuses on public issues, securities and public takeovers. However, he has spent more than 10 years working in-house. He worked at aluminium group Pechiney between 1984 and 1990, then at oil company Petra Fina between 1990 and 1992 before moving to Elf Aquitaine for three years. De Cabanes said: "I don't know the banking industry from the inside and I'm looking forward to the new challenge. This is not the kind of job that comes by every day." His new role will involve managing more than 50 lawyers based predominantly in France and the UK. He starts at the beginning of July.
