US firm Covington & Burling has bolstered its London corporate practice with the appointment of Kristian Wiggert from Morrison & Foerster as a partner in its European corporate group.
Wiggert is the fifth lateral hire for Covington from Morrison & Foerster this year, following the addition of a team of four life sciences partners in May (16 May 2011).
A US-qualified lawyer, Wiggert is particularly noted for his expertise in cross-border financing, M&A, private equity and securities.
He regularly represents both companies and investors in growth-stage and public equity offerings as well as counselling investors and funds with respect to their US securities and investment company responsibilities.
Covington’s European corporate group head, Mike Kingston, said the firm is seeing strong corporate activity in many industries including life sciences and technology, as businesses seem to be taking advantage of the current economic climate to improve their strategic positions.
“Kristian will strengthen our corporate team and broaden the range of services we provide in corporate transactions with a US element,” he added.
