Covanta Energy has raided waste management rival Waste Recycling Group (WRG) to appoint Fiona Penhallurick as its new director of legal services.
Penhallurick joins the energy from waste (EfW) provider having been group counsel for UK projects at WRG. Her time at the company included a role in closing the Wrexham waste PFI.
Her experience includes work across the energy and telecoms sectors and includes work on PFI and PPP projects.
Penhallurick’s 15-year legal career has also seen her work with National Grid and GEC subsidiary GPT.
Covanta’s managing director Malcolm Chilton said of Penhallurick’s appointment: “Her legal experience will further strengthen Covanta’s UK offering. We pride ourselves on having the sound knowledge and expertise to help meet the growing needs of local authorities across the UK.”

Covanta has recently carpet bombed Middlewich in Cheshire with propaganda leaflets in its frantic attempt to gain planning permission to build a giant waste incinerator virtually in the town centre. As a result, Covanta is a strong contender 2010 British Fiction Award and we look forward to seeing Ms Penhallurick at the awards ceremony later this year.

Covanta is one of two bidders for a incinerator in Leeds. I wondered if Veolia might also be a runner up in the awards?
