Council fights quarry go-ahead

A legal battle centring on the environmental issues relating to consent for quarrying operations is to go to the House of Lords. North Yorkshire County Council has been given leave to challenge an Appeal Court decision this February, relating to approval of conditions for quarrying on land at Wensley Quarries at Preston under Scar. The appeal will centre on whether the council was entitled to reach any conclusion on planning before ordering an environmental assessment in relation to the project.
