Couderts picks up ex-Lovells lawyer

Coudert Brothers has hired an ex-Lovell White Durrant partner to head its funds practice. Alasdair Gordon has not got partnership status at the firm but, says Steven Beharrell, head of the London practice, he will be considered for partnership at a later date.

A Lovells spokeswoman says Gordon left the firm in December "by mutual consent".

Beharrell says Gordon had a disagreement with Lovells over the direction of his practice.

At Couderts, he will "establish and build a UK funds practice," says Beharrell, adding that Couderts has adopted a strategy to build a funds practice.

He says the London office will shortly fill the gap left by US London managing partner Barry Metzger.
