COUDERT BROTHERS has taken litigation partner Bridget Wheeler from Holman Fenwick & Willan and so ended a six-month search for a head of litigation for its London office.Couderts' London managing partner Philip Burroughs said that Wheeler's appointment "was just the start of us developing a significant litigation capability".Until now, the firm had only one litigation partner specialising in property litigation.Wheeler, who specialises in international arbitration and trade disputes, will start at Couderts this month. She takes two assistants from Holman Fenwick & Willan with her - 14-year qualified Michael Pimm and seven year-qualified Maria Frangeskides.A spokesman from Holman Fenwick & Willan said: "The partners understood that Bridget may have been disappointed at what she perceived to be a lack of progress with the partnership."We wish her and the two assistants every success with their new venture."With the arrival of Wheeler's team, Coudert Brothers will have 16 partners and 25 other fee earners.Last autumn, Couderts seized control of specialist London commercial property practice Debenham & Co.Then, in March, banking partner Alexander Janes joined from Lovell White Durrant.
