Coudert Brothers has announced its annual partner appointments, with the bulk of new partners hailing from the firm’s New York and China practices.
The appointments were made earlier this month at the Coudert annual worldwide partner’s meeting in the firm’s New York headquarters.
The new partners include three from New York, as well as lawyers from Shanghai, Beijing, Paris and Sydney.
None of the firm’s 18 London associates were nominated for partnership. London managing partner Dean Poster said: “London has a good record for partner promotion, but none of our associates were at the appropriate level of seniority for partnership this year.”
However, London senior associate Michael Pimm was elected to of counsel.
The appointments reflect the firm’s current focus on the Chinese market. Coudert Brothers was the first foreign outfit to establish a practice in China, some 25 years ago.
Chairman David Huebner said: “The elevation of associates to partner status in the priority markets of New York and China advances our strategic growth plans in those areas.”
