Sports-law boutique Couchmans has hired the former head of disciplinary and governance at football’s world governing body, Fifa, as a consultant.
Paolo Lombardi, who is qualified in Italy, first joined Fifa in 2002 from Deloitte. At that time he was a legal counsel and rose to become head of its disciplinary and governance department in 2007, with responsibilities for ensuring that tournaments such as the 2010 World Cup were carried out in accordance with regulations.
Lombardi quit Fifa in August 2010 to set up his own consultancy, SportsTeam, but last month left to work as a consultant in Couchmans’ London office. .
