Australian firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth has hired McLaughlins partner Richard Holt to take up the position of managing partner in the firm's Gold Coast office
Holt, a property and commercial practitioner, has previously acted on a number of high-profile property developments in the region, including Hamilton Island, the Paradise Centre in the Gold Coast, and the ANA Hotel (formerly Surfers Paradise Holiday Inn).
While at McLaughlins, he was also responsible for establishing the firm's financial services arm in 1999.
Holt will head a team of 20 partners that covers Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland. He replaces John Story, who has been appointed as the firm's non-executive chairman.
At the same time, the firm has also appointed the head of the Mercer Legal group Anne MacNamara as a special counsel in the firm's Sydney financial services division.
