Tim Beech comes on board as a consultant four days a week. He will focus on fund-raising, and management buy-outs and buy-ins.Partner David Ashplant remains head of corporate finance.
Managing partner Barry Glazier said: "TIm Beech brings the ability to help clients on the financial deals, in particular on refinancing. Those abilities are needed if you are a serious player in the corporate legal market."
He said that the move to retain an accountant was "a very different ball game" to the move into legal work of the Big Five accountants, but added that "for medium-sized firms in the regions, such moves are important ".
Beech was formerly at Grant Thornton where he handled work for Kenwood Appliances. He later joined the company as its finance director before becoming chief executive.
Beech was at Kenwood's helm when it was listed on the Stock Market. He became a freelance corporate consultant in 1997.
