Cooley Godward faces the prospect of sharing liability for the death of a teenager struck by a car driven by one of its associates, Legal Times reports.
A jury in Loudoun County, Virginia, will be asked next week to determine whether former Cooley Godward associate Jane Wagner is liable for the death of a teenager struck by her car. The civil case will also ask whether Wagner caused the death because she was talking on a mobile phone while driving and whether she was working for Cooley while on the phone - a point that could let plaintiffs into the firm's deep pockets. Attorneys are seeking $25m in compensation for the girl’s family.
