Conyers insurance partner relocates from Bermuda to lead City team

Offshore firm Conyers Dill & Pearman has installed Charles Collis as the new head of its London office.

A partner in the firm’s insurance practice since 1998, Collis relocates from the firm’s Bermuda base, where he specialised in insurance, reinsurance, corporate and regulatory matters.

He will lead a team of two partners and five lawyers who specialise in investment funds, securitisation, structured finance, insurance, shipping and aircraft, Islamic Finance, and general corporate work.

Collis takes over from Christopher Johnson-Gilbert, who becomes an of counsel.

Commenting on his new position, Collis said that his main priority will be to further expand the London office’s capabilities as well as advancing the firm’s presence across Europe.

Most recently Conyers’ London outpost advised on the $4.6bn merger of investment vehicle Vallares with Turkish oil company Genel Energy International.
