SJ Berwin introduces thirteen associates to partnership" />SJ Berwin has elected 13 new partners this year, the biggest round at the firm for at least three years and more than double the number made up in 2003.
Corporate was the big winner, getting a seven-partner boost. Five corporate associates in the London office, one in Frankfurt and one in Madrid became partners this year.
Overall, the balance of promotions shifted slightly from London to favour SJ Berwin's Continental Europe offices, which promoted five compared with last year's two.
The firm made up one corporate and one employment partner in Madrid, a competition partner in Munich and one tax and one corporate partner in Frankfurt.
In London, promotions dropped from nine to eight, with two in litigation, five in corporate and one in real estate.
Women still have trouble making partner at SJ Berwin. Litigation partner Nicola Bridge and corporate partner Tandeep Minhas were the only female associates to make partner this year, and last year media partner Sarah Bing was the sole female partner promoted. At the moment, only 10 of the firm's 80 equity partners are female.
