Senior IP lawyer and patent attorney Tibor Gold has taken up a role as a consultant at LG. According to senior partner Penny Francis, this will help open doors for the firm's burgeoning IP practice.
Gold, who was awarded an ;MBE ;last ;year ;in recognition of his services to IP, has a longstanding relationship ;with ;LG partner Georgie Collins, who was recruited to LG from Bevan Brittan last year.
Collins trained under Gold at Stephenson Harwood and then, at Bevan Brittan, used to instruct trademark and patent attorneys Kilburn & Strode, where Gold was formerly a partner and where he now retains a consultancy role.
Gold will be focused on business development work at LG, as well as providing behind-the-scenes advice.
He insisted that his new appointment would not conflict with the similar role he retains at Kilburn & Strode, saying: "After 10 years at Stephenson Harwood I've formed the opinion that in England a one-stop shop for patent work can't work. I'm not looking to revive that at LG."
