Conference sets sights on equal rights

LONDON barrister Margaret McCabe has signed leading lawyers as speakers at a controversial conference on sex discrimination.

The Lord Chancellor will provide the keynote address at the 8 April conference – 'The Woman Lawyer: Benefit or Burden?' – also involving Law Society President Charles Elly and Bar Chairman Peter Goldsmith QC.

McCabe, a civil and commercial lawyer based at 2 King's Bench Walk, says the problem of sex discrimination in the profession is “much worse than people actually think it is. Where there is none it is excellent. But when it is bad it is very bad, and that is the point we're trying to get across,” says McCabe.
