Wragge & Co has become the first firm in the UK to set up a single team incorporating competition, public law and regulation.
The 16-lawyer team includes partners Guy Lougher and Bernardine Adkins, and operates out of Birmingham, London and Brussels. Merging the three groups has developed a client list including companies in the energy, utilities, automotive, transport and postal services sectors. Lougher said that since the group was set up this summer, the firm has won two new clients. Both came to Wragges because they wanted to be advised on both competition and public law. He said: "We think human rights needs to be brought into competition. On the back of the draconian laws for competition we need to have good public law advice. Now we're all in one team we'll be able to offer clients a more integrated service."
