The House of Lords has put consideration of an appeal over grazing rightson common landadjoining farm land in Cornwall on hold. Lords Hope, Clydeand Hobhouse have set a 23July deadline for objections to be lodged to thepetition for leave to appeal. The casecentres on Sina Farm in Cornwall.The owners of part of the land seek a declaration thatthe grazing rightsover Tawna Down are annexed to, and could only run with, their landat SinaFarm. They claim that a purported conveyance by the previous owner wasineffectiveand that as a matter of law, grazing rights historically linkedan area of land belongingto a farmer exercising those rights. They say therights cannot be separated from thatland in the way it is claimed hashappened here.
