Robin Saphra has joined Colt Telecom as commercial director and head of regulatory.
Saphra spent the past year in Dubai’s Internet City where he was developing plans, strategy and licence for the UAE’s second telecommunications operator.
Saphra previously held senior posts at One2One (now T-Mobile), a company he joined after leaving City firm Allison & Humphreys, where he was a partner, in 1997.
At One2One, as a member of the executive team, Saphra was involved in the creation of Virgin Mobile and was responsible for strategic projects such as the acquisition of 3GH licences.
Saphra will report directly to Colt’s chief administrative and financial officer Tony Bates.
Bates said: "This is a new role which addresses the need for a highly commercial regulatory function which can make a material positive contribution to our business and help us deliver our strategic goals of cost leadership and profitable growth."
