  • £3.9m purchase price appears very low, especially when this includes the WIP etc. A full investigation is warranted.

  • The SRA will do nothing. What happened at Halliwells was far more serious in terms of partner behaviour because one group misled another group of partners. Those responsible seem to have escaped without even a cursory investigation of their conduct.
    If it had been a 2 partner firm in Bradford the SRA would have done something about it, you can be assured of that.

  • Re Tony;
    The SRA did nothing about a small Devon firm whose financially incontinent patners were allowed to acquire the firm in pre-pack administration through a sister private limited company which they were also directors of:

    Whilst I applaud the SRA for actually doing something in relation to Cobbetts, this begs the question; why did Halliwells and Eastleys partners essentially get away scot-free?

  • Isn't it about time partners were called to account in Halliwells and Cobbetts or is it one rule for lawyers and another for other business people? As always, the partners move on and the employees are thrown to the wolves and creditors are left shirtless.

  • Music to my ears, this firm did many many things that were borderline. No sympathy on my end.
