Cobbetts has added to its commercial team with the lateral hire of a partner from German firm Busse & Miessen.
Jan Becher will bolster Cobbetts’ German team, which operates across the firm’s three offices in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds. He becomes Cobbetts’ 11th commercial partner and will be based in Birmingham.
Becher has worked with Cobbetts for several years in Germany, the UK and other jurisdictions, and said he was looking forward to working as a lawyer abroad.
Cobbetts’ German team acts for subsidiaries of German companies based in the Midlands and other areas of the UK.
The hire comes after several months of rapid expansion for Cobbetts, which saw four mergers in 10 months and has taken on a number of lateral hires. Most recently the firm appointed Martineau Johnson’s Mauro Paiano as head of contentious IP, also based in Birmingham.
