Co-op extends post-Legal Services Bill offering

The Co-operative Group has launched a new wills service as it capitalises on regulatory changes in the Legal Services Bill.

Last year the Co-op announced it was setting up a dedicated legal business, known as Co-operative Legal Services, in readiness for the reforms.

The wills service extends this as the Legal Services Bill goes through Parliament.

The new wills service, initially available to about six million Co-operative Bank and CIS customers, aims to provide “a jargon-free wills service with clear pricing”.

Co-operative Legal Services selected seven firms to make up its first legal panel to initially carry out legal expenses insurance work in motor and household claims.

The move into wills is the first step as the Co-op plans to expand practices such as property, private client and family law.
