CMS revamps private equity group in wake of top-level departures
CMS has reacted to the departure of former private equity heads David Bresnick and Ted Cominos with a restructure of the group’s leadership.
Bresnick left his role as head of private equity and TMT at CMS for Morrison & Foerster last month. He had replaced international head of private equity Cominos, who moved to the Chicago office of newly merged Edwards Wildman in March (22 March 2012).
Cominos left CMS after less than two years, having been recruited with former Linklaters colleagues partners Graham Conlon and Alexandra Florea in April 2010 (14 April 2010).
Now the firm has carried out a reshuffle of its UK and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) private equity sector group. Corporate partner James Grimwood, who was recently named global private equity leader, will now also head the UK private equity team.
He said: “The UK and CEE team has a strong combination of youth, age and experience. This expertise means we can help clients looking to buy out, sell or deal across the continent and take advantage of the current deal environment.”
Conlon will co-lead the international private equtiy sector group in Central and Eastern Europe along with David Butts. Conlon was part of Cominos’s seven-strong team at Linklaters dubbed ‘the flying squad’. It included associates John Faurescu, Cristina Proca, Anela Musat and Gokce Kilic and was reassembled at CMS.
Finally, CEE regional banking team partner Ana Radnev will continue as deputy leader of the international private equity sector group.
The team boasts clients including Advent International, Mid Europa Partners, LDC and LGV.
Cominos and his team had been brought in by CMS managing partner Duncan Weston to push the firm’s private equity presence in emerging markets.
