CMS Hasche Sigle hit by Moscow departures

Three Moscow partners and 11 lawyers have defected from CMS Hasche Sigle to German firm Beiten Burkhardt.

The losses from Germany’s CMS Hasche Sigle’s Russian outfit have significantly boosted the ranks at Beiten Burkhardt, which is the largest German firm in Russia with 56 lawyers.

Christian von Wistinghausen, head of Beiten Burkhart’s Moscow office, said he was pleased that the firm’s presence in the region had been given such a significant boost with one set of hires.

“The fact that our new colleagues decided to join an independent German law firm clearly strengthens our strategic approach,” he said.

The new partners are Svetlana Turbanova, who was CMS Hasche Sigle’s Moscow head of litigation, and Falk Tischendorf and Eugen Zentner, who were both real estate partners at CMS.

Beiten Burkhardt also has a sizable team in Ukraine and its Russian and Ukrainian presence now exceeds 100 lawyers.
