CMC Markets group director of legal Dominic Bacon has left and started a three-month period of ­gardening leave.

Bacon joined CMC from Gulf International Bank, where he was head of legal and compliance for five years, in 2007.

CMC head of compliance Pauline Lawton will replace Bacon as legal chief, heading a 20-strong team.

During Bacon’s time at CMC the company expanded internationally, launching five offices and opening up complex derivative products to 15 global regulators.

As a result Bacon expanded the business’s legal ­function, growing the UK lawyer headcount from three to 10. He also changed how the lawyers operate, assigning each to specific businesses and demanding monthly reports from the team.
