Clyde & Co is moving into the railway sector with the hire of an insurance partner from Halliwells. Partner Victor Rae-Reeves starts work at Clydes today (23 May) with the aim of building up the firm’s expertise in a growing area of insurance law.

Clydes managing partner Michael Payton said the firm had an established reputation in shipping, aviation and logistics, but that the railways were not yet covered by the firm’s existing expertise.

“That’s one of the things that really applies to us,” Payton said, adding: “Since privatisation and since the Channel Tunnel, effectively there’s been created a parallel need for legal services in the railways. In terms of our focus on transportation, this fits really well.”

A Halliwells spokesperson wished Rae-Reeves well.
