Clydes scoops Ince insurance head

Clyde & Co has expanded its corporate insurance practice by scooping rival Ince & Co’s head of corporate insurance.

David Coupe, who was previously a solicitor at Clyde in the 1980s, leaves Ince after 18 years.

Coupe’s appointment follows a recent spate of partners joining in recent months - including McDermott Will & Emery corporate partner Richard Britain, and Lovells tax partner Trefor John.

Coupe, who specialises in regulatory, insurance, European Union and competition work, will join Clyde’s four-partner corporate insurance team headed by partner Andrew Holderness.

Holderness said his strategy is to continue to expand the practice to combat a downturn in its core insurance and dispute resolution markets.

“We are comiitted to bucking the trend and to continue as one of the leading firms in the area,” said Holderness.
