Indian firm ALMT Legal has reaffirmed its commitment to the London market following its split from former best friend Clyde & Co earlier this year with a brace of lateral hires and a City relaunch.
Private equity lawyer Garima Basu, an AZB & Partners Delhi senior associate until November 2010, has joined the firm to head up the new London office as a partner.
Former general counsel and director of OM Metals Infraprojects Seema Kothari has also joined the firm. Kothari will be based in New Delhi as a partner and office head.
Meanwhile ALMT co-founding partner Sameer Tapia will divide his time between London and Mumbai.
“We have evolved and we’re now a well-known Indian brand in the English market,” Tapia said.
ALMT was founded in 1999 after breaking off from Singhania & Co. Its new Cannon Street office is focused on serving UK companies looking to invest in India and Indian clients with UK business interests although it would not advise on English law.
