Laura Cox QC, the head of Cloisters chambers and leading employment barrister, is to join the High Court Bench
She is due to be replaced by Robin Allen QC and Brian Langstaff QC as joint heads of chambers, pending formal elections in November. Cox is credited with managing Cloisters' re-emergence as a specialist civil set after a period of restructuring led to the demerger of its civil and criminal teams in 2000. In a statement Allen said: "Laura has been a trailblazer in equal opportunities and discrimination law. She has led us through some dramatic changes which have enabled us to modernise and compete." Cox joins the Queen's Bench Division full time.
