CLLIX court listings service price slashed

The price of court listings service CLLIX has been slashed after a disappointing uptake by users.

CLLIX, developed by the Legal Information Exchange, the Lord Chancellor's Department and the Bar Council in 1992, is used by only 50 chambers and firms.

It sends court lists over a telephone line as they are published. Data is available from all 78 Crown Court centres throughout England and Wales.

The price for a single user has been reduced from £1,625 to £495 for the software and manual. The on-line facility costs £720 a year.

Stephen Murphy, of Applied Computer Expertise, which initiated the new prices, said: "We feel that there is a great demand for CLLIX which has been curtailed due to the price. We are hoping to get every chambers using the system."
