Clifford Chance makes Linklaters Tokyo hire

Clifford Chance has hired a Linklaters capital markets partner for its Tokyo office.
Reiko Sakimura was made up to Linklaters' partnership in 2005 after spending four years with UBS Warburg as an executive director in the investment banking division.
Clifford Chance's Tokyo office managing partner and head of capital markets in Tokyo, Peter Kilner, said: "She has worked with most of the domestic and international issuers in the Tokyo market, and we are delighted that she will be bringing that experience to our team at Clifford Chance."
Clifford Chance will see global corporate head Peter Charlton take up the post of Asian managing partner by November (The Lawyer, 8 September).
Clifford Chance sees capital markets as key to growth in the region, having recently hired capital markets partner Rahul Guptan from Indian firm Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co for the Singapore office (TheLawyer.com, 19 August).
Sakimura will start at Clifford Chance Tokyo after the end of her Linklaters notice period. She is dual qualified in English and US law and joined Linklaters in London as a trainee in 1993. She has been living in Tokyo since 1997.
