Clifford Chance has appointed Paolo Sersale as head of its Italian corporate practice, taking over from partner Alberta Figari.
Sersale was handed the role following a partnership vote last week.
A spokesperson for Clifford Chance in Italy said that the role involves coordinating the work of the corporate practice in the context of the firm's global presence, as well as managing operational aspects of the Italian office. The corporate head is also expected to do client work.
Figari joined Clifford Chance in 1994 from Studio De Rienzo Luzzatto, becoming a partner in 1997. Sersale joined the firm in 1998 from Simmons & Simmons, making partner in 2002. Both partners are based in the Milan office.
