Masayuki Okamoto has joined Clifford Chance’s Tokyo office as a partner in the firm’s finance practice. Okamoto, who is Japanese and New York-qualified, specialises in structured finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance, banking and financial regulatory work.
The hire is the latest in a series of developments in Clifford Chance’s Tokyo office over the past year.
Last summer, the firm strengthened its Tokyo offering with the hire of New Zealand M&A star Paul O'Regan from Chapman Tripp as its new head of corporate. O'Regan had been a partner with New Zealand firm Chapmans for 25 years.
More recently, Japenese firm Atsumi & Partners poached Clifford Chance counsel Daniel Hounslow to boost its international M&A and private equity offerings in Tokyo.
Hounslow, who joined Clifford Chance's Tokyo office in 2000 as counsel, spearheaded the magic circle firm's Japan private equity practice.
