Clifford Chance has appointed an interim finance director as it continues its search for a permanent replacement for Chris Merry.
William Barnes, a former partner at Deloitte, will take over from Merry who is scheduled to leave the firm in January after over four years in the post. Merry is moving to headhunting group Whitehead Mann.
Barnes has held a number of short-term posts as finance director including a spell at Berwin Leighton Paisner. It is expected that Clifford Chance will look externally for a long-term financial director.
