Clementi: the results

Sir David Clementi has today (15 December) published his long awaited report on the regulatory review of legal services.

In his report Clementi made the following key recommendations. The creation of :

1. a single independent body to handle consumer complaints in respect of all members of frontline bodies;
2. alternative business structures to enable solicitors and barristers to work together on an equal footing and to permit non-lawyers to become involved in management and ownership;
3. a new regulatory framework, which places the interests of consumers at its centre;
4. a new independent complaints handling systems against lawyers.
