City firm helps acquire Harry Potter for Russian TV

Russian TV company TNT Broadcasting Network has turned to City firm Padva Haslam-Jones for advice on a deal to air Warner Bros material including the latest Harry Potter film.

Katerina Haslam-Jones, name partner at the firm, guided her long-standing client on a deal that will allow it to acquire a library of feature films over a two-year period.
New feature films available for exhibition by TNT, which focuses on the entertainment and comedy market, include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hangover and Sherlock Holmes.

The deal was structured with the intermediary company Circuview signing the agreement with Warner Bros on behalf of TNT, which was the ultimate beneficiary.

Haslam-Jones commented: “We found the perfect [deal] for both companies by implementing this triangular structure.”

Padva Haslam-Jones worked with Nigel Pearson, a partner at Loeb & Loeb in Los Angeles, on California law matters. Warner Bros was advised by its in-house team. Circuview was advised by George Cooke, a partner at Manatt Phelps & Phillips.
