Citigroup poaches new general counsel

Helfer replaces the two co-general counsels, Stephanie Mudick and Joan Guggenheimer, who will respectively take on the roles of chief administrative officer of the global consumer group and general counsel of the global corporate and investment bank.

Helfer had been at Wilmer Cutler for 27 years before joining Nationwide in 2000. He held the role of the firm's chief executive officer from 1995-1998 and spent two years as head of the firm's financial institutions group.

Helfer, who will also be a member of Citigroup's management committee, joins the company on 3 February.
