Cisco to use BLP’s Lawyers on Demand

Amelie de Marsily, Cisco director of legal services, European markets, told delegates at The Lawyer Summit 2009 in Barcelona that large in-house legal departments needed flexibility of resources and that the interim model run by Lawyers on Demand was of great interest.

Lawyers on Demand was set up some two years ago by partner Simon Harper and the firm’s in-house headhunter Jonathan Brenner, who is a director of the venture. In its short existence it has worked with a number of major international corporations, including Dell, Orange, UBS, Sky and Gucci. Cisco’s legal spend in the 2009 fiscal year was $38m (£22.9m) internally and $80m externally. BLP declined to comment.
