Nick Deeming has taken up the newly created post of group general counsel at auction house Christie's.
In his new role, Deeming, who left energy outfit Linde last month, will be overseeing an existing team of seven lawyers and will report to CEO Edward Dolman.
A spokesman from the auction house said thenew position was created to oversee all compliance matters related to Christie's worldwide operations and to support the company's growth and expansion, especially into emerging markets.
He will also serve as a member of the group's management board. Deeming, who will be based in London, will take up his new position on 1 November.
