Chris Garnett
Chris Garnett advises public and private companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital fundraisings and restructurings and corporate governance.

He trained at Eversheds, becoming a partner in 1992, and led one of the corporate teams in its Birmingham office. He joined Shoosmiths in May 2006 and now heads the corporate practice group.
Since joining Shoosmiths, Garnett has acted for AIM-listed Billington Holdings Plc on its sale of 24 companies comprising its construction, manufacturing, property investment and property development businesses to an Endless-backed management team. More recently he also completed two acquisitions for British Gas: JK Environmental (UK) Limited, a company providing environmental, sewer cleansing and tankering services, and ECL Contracts, which provides cladding and insulation services to a range of commercial and industrial clients.
In the last year, Garnett acted for the family shareholders and management team on the management buyout of leading UK packaging business Benson Box, backed by LDC, and also advised the management team on its 41m takeover of AIM-listed Workplace Systems International plc.
He also regularly provides corporate advice to listed public companies such as Thorntons and metals and minerals group Kazakhmys for whom he has handled a multi-billion-dollar group restructuring and capital reduction.
