Leading common law set 7 Bedford Row has employed a chief executive to replace its former senior clerk Chris Owen.
Bucking the recent trend of sticking with a traditional clerking framework, the set has ended an eight-month search with the appointment of Robert Graham-Campbell. Graham-Campbell, who takes up his new post in November, joins from City-based specialist healthcare services group Rood Lane Medical Group, where he was director of business development. He was previously a director of corporate finance at investment bank Flemings. Head of chambers David Farrer QC said that problems in other sets had occurred when a chief executive was brought in to work alongside a senior clerk, because the two roles often became blurred. One of the primary tasks Graham-Campbell will take on is improving the set's reputation in civil work. The set is known mainly for its criminal work. He is also tasked with improving cross-selling between practice groups.
