Addleshaw Booth & Co has a longstanding relationship with Chester-based Barlows, the latest listed property company to take itself private. Barlows has been trading at 23 per cent discount to net asset value.`Corporate finance partner Richard Lee was instructed by a consortium including Richard Fildes, the chairman and managing director of Barlows, and fellow executive director Andrew Bird. The consortium set up acquisition vehicle Chepstow to take Barlows private. The instruction should ensure an ongoing relationship with the company for Addleshaws.`Stephenson Harwood's head of corporate Andrew Sutch acted for Barlows' independent directors, who are not part of the new bidding vehicle. Stephenson Harwood had not advised Barlows in the past, but has links with a number of its non-executive directors through their other interests.
