One of Tulkinghorn’s scribes was keen to follow up a News of the World story regarding the alleged blossoming relationship of Hammonds sports partner Louise Quinn and Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon.
Our intrepid scribe put a call into Quinn to check the veracity of the story, only to hear her voicemail. After leaving a message he got a call back – not from Hammonds’ director of communications Nick Wood as expected, but from none other than Chelsea’s director of communications Simon Greenberg.
The hack was told in no uncertain terms that if The Lawyer ran the story he would get his lawyers to look at it. Excellent – Tulkinghorn likes lawyers reading The Lawyer. And it may even have boosted Hammonds’ fees from client Chelsea. Good news all round.
