Charlton victorious in CC corporate election

Peter Charlton has emerged as Clifford Chance’s new global head of corporate.

Voting closed today, which saw the London head defeat Italian managing partner Nick Wrigley in the firm’s first contested election for the post.

Charlton takes over as corporate head from David Childs, who is now chief operating officer at the magic circle firm.

As revealed by The Lawyer (13 June 2005), Charlton’s election manifesto underlined the corporate group’s target of increasing revenues by 10 per cent every year and focused on building synergies between Asia and the rest of the firm’s global network, and growth in the Middle East.

Peter Charlton said: The corporate practice is central to the firm's strategy and I'm looking forward to working with the corporate partners as well as Peter [Cornell] and the other members of the management committee to build on our current platform and to realise our very ambitious goals."
