Charles Russell to act for PM of Antigua

The claim, issued last week, relates to a story broadcast on 5 July claiming that the prime minister Lester Bird had misused over £50m of the country's health funds to pay for lavish parties and holidays. Media partner Duncan Lamont is representing Bird.
Lamont said: “This was broadcast all over the world. It was an all-singing, all-dancing prime time multimedia attack.”
Last weekend news that Bird was considering a libel action was leaked to The Guardian, which said BBC executives were set to publish a positive story about him as an alternative to an apology. Lamont dismissed this, confirming that Bird was seeking financial compensation.
