Charles Russell takes Yamana Gold from AIM to LSE

Charles Russell has scored a role advising Canada's Yamana Gold on its graduation from AIM to the London Stock Exchange's main market.

Led by corporate finance head Simon Gilbert, a team made up of solicitors Adam Carling and Ruth Morrow worked alongside Mark Bennett, Andrea Fitzgerald and Sofia Tsakos of Canadian firm Cassels Brock and Blackwell on the deal.

Gold producer Yamana made the move to the main market by way of a secondary listing and had a market capitalisation of £2.4bn on admission today (12 June).

The company, which is also listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges, has gold production properties, development stage properties, exploration properties and land positions in Brazil, Argentina and Central America.

Charles Russell has a longstanding relationship with the company having worked on its original AIM admission in December 2003.

According to Gilbert, advising clients on their move from AIM to the Official List is a natural progression for the practice.

Canaccord Adams acted as the company's financial adviser and broker for the admission and was advised by Norton Rose corporate finance partner Nick Adams with assistance from Megan O'Leary.
