THE SWINDON office of City firm Charles Russell has branched off to form a niche practice aimed at high-tech commercial and property work.
Richard Clark and Jeremy Holt have formed Clark Holt with the town's third Charles Russell partner property lawyer Graham Brothwood. But they retain links with Charles Russell by forming an association.
Clark said: "We decided we wanted to set up our own practice. We value the relationship with Charles Russell and we wanted to keep it."
He said the venture, launched from its premises on 1 November, has an impressive portfolio of clients including listed companies. He describes it as a company commercial practice with special interests in IT and commercial property work. It also has the blessing of Charles Russell senior partner John South.
Charles Russell, which has made all its resources available to the new practice, also has an office in nearby Cheltenham.
A source said: "I think they wanted to be in control of their own small niche practice in a confined geographical area."
